UMMI HAFILDA SRIKANDI NEGARA

At that time, Ummi Hafilda was a much younger lady. She came forward to become the main witness in the trial case of Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim. At that time Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim was the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia and Ummi Hafilda was about to disclose all the secrets she has about the misbehaviors of Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Even Tun Dr Mahathir, who was at that time the Prime Minister of Malaysia did not believe what was about to be disclosed by Ummi Hafilda. Due to her persistence, patients, and her believe, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim was finally sentenced to six years imprisonment. It was the trial of the year. Most newspapers of the world covered the trial case. Because of the trial, Ummi Hafilda’s name raised to fame. Prior to the trial, she was only an ordinary young woman who was running her own business. In the seemingly naïve-looking young lady, lies the heart that is stronger than steel, lies the mind that is sharper than knives. Allah has used her to become the main witness in the most historic court case in Malaysia. Because she was the main witness in the court case, she had undergone untold sufferings and troubles. Paparazzi followed her and tried to cause trouble to her, yet she remained steadfast in her belief that Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim had committed a very serious crime. She received many death threats and attempts to bribe her from her own brother. She had to move many times from one house to another house in different locations in a span of one year and her car was burned to ashes. At such a young age, Ummi Hafilda had undergone such troubles, only to prove to the court that Dato’ Seri Anwar had committed a grieve offence that finally led the court to sentence Dato’ Seri Anwar to six years imprisonment. (more…)

According to the constitution, anybody regardless of race and religion can become the Prime Minister of Malaysia. Should the Opposition parties win in the next general election and Lim Kit Siang is the Opposition leader at that time; he is eligible even to become the Prime Minister of Malaysia.

When Sonia Gandhi won in large margin the Rae Bareilly constituency in Uttar Pradesh in the 2004 Indian general election, she was elected to be the leader of a 15-party coalition government which was subsequently named the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) and thus was expected to become the Prime Minister of India. However, she could not become the Prime Minister of India because she is not an Indian by birth. Many of the Indians are against the idea that a non-Indian become the Prime Minister of India. Sonia was born an Italian in Lusiana, Italy and was the wife of the late Rajiv Ghandi, the former Prime Minister of India and has become the citizen of India. After the death of her husband, Sonia entered politics and became the leader of the Congress party. She is the leader of the coalition party that has won the Indian election. Under the Indian Constitution, she has the right to become the Prime Minister of India. However many Indians were not ready to accept her as the Prime Minister of India. There were many protests all over the country against her becoming the Prime Minister of India. There were two female members of the parliament who had threaten to commit suicide if Sonia were made the Prime Minister of India. In my opinion, Sonia has made the correct decision not to become the Prime Minister and instead she has chosen Dr. Manmohan Singh to become the Prime Minister of India. Her decision has returned calm and peace to the country and raised her status to be a great woman and a great leader of India. There are few in the world who were willing to step down for the sake of peace and stability for the country like her instead of clinging on to the position and power. (more…)

MALAYSIA NEGARA MAJU BY 2020

Every great things and impressive achievements start with a great vision. In my understanding, vision means what we foreseen and aimed to achieve in a specific period of time. What is the vision of this beloved nation of Malaysia? Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammad while being the Prime Minister of Malaysia in the year 1991 has loudly announced to the whole country and to the world that Malaysia will become a fully advanced country by the year 2020. He proudly announced that Malaysia now has a great vision and he named the vision as Vision 2020. Our beloved ex-Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad envisioned Malaysia to be advanced country by the year 2020. He did outline the nine challenges that we need to overcome to achieve the vision by the year 2020. However, Tun Dr Mahathir never specifically mentioned the style of advanced country  that Malaysia wants to be. He did mention that advanced country that Malaysia aims to be shall not be like the present advanced countries of the western world, but advanced country of its own unique style. What is exactly the style of advanced country that Malaysia aims to achieve? Only Tun Dr Mahathir knows.

Our present Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Najib Tun Razak’s understanding of Malaysia as advanced country is Malaysia with a GNI per capita of US$15,000 a year by the year 2020; which is thought to be at par with the per capita income of the current advanced countries. What is being understood by Dato’ Seri Najib is similar to what the Americans and many others understand what advanced country is. People all over the world generally accepted that one of the basic features of advanced country is a country that has high per capita income. By this definition, Malaysia will be regarded and accepted by the world as advanced country when Malaysia managed to achieve high per capita income that is at par with the other known advanced countries. Thus, Dato’ Seri Najib is trying to move the country to become a country with high per capita income. He simply wants Malaysia to be regarded as advanced country by this definition. To move people with him, Dato‘ Seri Najib should expound clearly his understanding of Malaysia as advanced country and make it known to all citizens. But will a country with high per capita income makes majority of the citizens to have high income? (more…)
