TAFSIR OF SURAH AL-‘ASR

Surah Al-‘Asr is a very small surah of the Quran, translated into english as The Time. Although it is a very small surah of the Quran, yet it is among the most important surah in the Quran. Imam Syafie, a very renowned imam used to say with the approximate meaning; in case this surah is the only surah revealed by Allah to men and men practice what is told in this surah, it will be sufficient for men to attain success in this world and the hereafter. Such a great iman, who dare to speak such words to the entire mankind, must have such a profound knowledge and understanding of the Quran. Allah must have given him the knowledge of the understanding of the Quran which is not given to others during his time. Many Muslims particularly in Malaysia follows mazhab of imam Syafie, a great scholar of Islam. Imam Syafie was the only imam with the opinion that ‘doa qunut’ must be read daily in fajar prayers, because he believes that the Muslims ummah is constantly in calamities after the Prophet Muhammad saw passed away. Muslims of other mazhab will read doa qunut in fajar prayers only at times of calamities. What is the meaning of this surah? Allah says in the approximate meaning; I swear by time all men are at lost, except those who believe and do good actions, who frequently reminding each other about the truth and reminding each other with patient. Many Muslims scholars understand this surah as all men will be at lost except those who have the four main qualities mention in the surah. According to many Muslims scholars, the four main qualities mention in the surah are; iman, good actions (amal soleh), reminding each others about the truth and reminding each others with patient. According to many Muslims scholars all the four qualities mention in the surah must be acquired by all men if they want to become successful in this world and the hereafter. However, most scholars failed to explain to Muslims in their lectures on how to obtain the four qualities, because they themselves do not possess those four qualities. So, how to acquire those four qualities? (more…)

We have to be with Jemaah Muhammad saw and only with this jemaah we will achieve salvation. In order to attain the love of Allah, we have to be part of the Jemaah Muhammad saw. Nowadays there are many jemaah or groups of Muslims in this world. All of them claim to belong to Jemaah of Prophet Muhammad saw. Prophet Muhammad saw said with approximate meaning “my umat will be divided into 73 jemaah (or groups) but only one group or jemaah is following the true path. When the companions of Prophet Muhammad saw asked Prophet Muhammad saw which group or jemaah is following the true path? Prophet Muhammad saw answered with the approximate meaning, the jemaah or group that follows me and my companions”. Whoever follows the companions of Prophet Muhammad saw will also follows Prophet Muhammad saw and so the jemaah or group which follows the true path is the jemaah or group that follows Muhammad saw and his companions. Crowd of peoples will not make a jemaah or a group unless there is a leader or ‘Amer’. The Amer of Jemaah Muhammad saw and his companions is Prophet Muhammad saw himself and after the demise of Prophet Muhammad saw the Amer of Jemaah Muhammad saw and his companions should be the disciples of Prophet Muhammad saw or the ‘Naib’ of Prophet Muhammad saw. Naib or disciples of Prophet Muhammad is not a Prophet but has the same mission, vision and work like Prophet Muhammad saw. What is the work of Prophet Muhammad saw? The work of Prophet Muhammad saw is to call people towards Allah with full conviction, determination and perseverance. (more…)

Assalamualaykum prof,

Pertama sekali saya nak perkenalkan diri saya. Nama saya Muhammad Taqiuddin b. Khamdani. Saya tinggal di Kg Olak lempit, Banting, Selangor. Saya rasa prof mungkin mengenali saya kerana saya pernah mengambil rawatan dengan prof baru-baru ini. Saya ingin mengucapkan terima kasih atas rawatan prof beri kepada saya. Alhamdulillah, saya rasa semakin baik.

Rupa-rupanya nak dekat periksa masa tu la dia datang terus saya x blh jawab periksa. Pada masa kena kali nilah bapa saya bawa bertemu doktor pakar di HKL kerana terbaca artikel tentang skizofrenia. Lepas saya fail dalam SPM ayah saya suruh ambil ulangan. Saya pun belajar lagi tapi kali saya ambil ubat. Tapi betul2 lepas saya ambil periksa saya relapse balik. Nasib baik lepas periksa. Hasilnya saya dapat keputusan yg agak baik jugak iaitu 3A4B1C1D. Itupun saya x belajar betul2 sebab saya masuk kelas tahfiz sepenuh masa walaupun guru saya melarang saya tetap dengan minat saya iaitu menghafal quran. Saya ambil SPM ulangan pd 2007. Saya rasa prof pun tau tempat tu. markaz tabligh. Sebelum saya masuk saya disyaratkan keluar 40 hari.

Masa tu saya relapse. Yg teruknya saya kene time kluar 40 hari.

Allah has created all the material things of this world and ordered us to use them. Allah is the One who put benefit or harm in all the material things of this world. Other than Allah cannot give benefit or harm. None can gives benefit or harm except Allah. Allah has made all the material things either to give benefit or harm to mankind. However, Allah can change the benefit into harm in the materials which we often see as giving benefit. Benefit or harm does not come from the material things themselves but it comes from Allah. We use materials that we believe can give us benefit and we do not use materials that we believe can gives us harm. We believes material things can give benefit or harm because we see with our own eyes, material things to give benefit or harm since the day we were born. We have been told to believe whatever we see as the truth. The common idiom being spoken by many of us is; “seeing is believing”. Whatever we see, we tend to believe it. Many are completely convinced, whatever they see is true. On the other hand, Allah tells us in the Quran, whatever we see is not true. What is the truth? The truth is everything that happens in this world, happen with the permission of Allah. The doer of everything is Allah and not the material things that we see. None can do except Allah. Even though, Allah is unseen but the doer of everything is Allah. Allah is the One that gives benefit and harm. (more…)

BERSIH 3.0

The Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections (in malay called Gabungan Pilihanraya BERSIH dan Adil) or BERSIH (meaning clean in Malay) is a coalition of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and was supported by Pakatan Rakyat. The leader of BERSIH, Ambiga Sreevenasan initially said the main aim of BERSIH demonstration is to call for free and fair elections in Malaysia. In other words, no previous elections in Malaysia were fair and clean. Is it true? Although there are no clear evidences to suggest that all the previous elections in Malaysia are not fair and clean, but definitely all those peoples who previously are involved in the general election certainly know whether  our general election is conducted in a fair and clean manner or otherwise. As a nation, we are about fifty-five years old and during those times, we had several general elections and the bloodiest one is in 1969. In all the previous general election, Barisan had won and ruled our country. Anwar Ibrahim was once among the supreme leader of Barisan National and I am sure he is one of those who know whether our previous elections were conducted in clean and fair or otherwise. Why Anwar and Ambiga use street demonstration and not negotiation to solve the problem? As long as I know, Anwar had used street demonstration even when he was a student leader in University Malaya and the leader of Muslim Youth Movement of Malaysia (ABIM). Now at the age of sixty-five, Anwar still uses the same method to pressure the government. Anwar knew the method works. The only time there is no street demonstration in Malaysia is when Anwar Ibrahim was with the ruling government and when he was in Sungai Buloh Prison. I would say as long as Anwar is not with the government or in prison, there will always be a street demonstration in Malaysia. Anwar is the Guru of street demonstration in Malaysia. What Anwar wants to achieve with street demonstration? With street demonstration, Anwar wants to tarnish whatever good image of the ruling government and Anwar wants to paint the image of cruelty and injustice to the ruling government. When there are crowds of thousand of peoples and with no proper control by the organizer, surely they are some who will not follow the instructions of the police. When the police start to fire tear gas towards the demonstrators, certainly it gives the image to Malaysians and international communities that Malaysian’s government does not allow freedom of speech to her peoples. Once the image of cruelty and injustice are painted to the ruling government the purpose of BERSIH demonstration is achieved. (more…)
