THE MOSQUE-ASSOCIATED ACTIONS

Mosque is the center of dakwah to non-Muslims, center of reminding Muslims about Allah and the orders of Allah. It is also the center of learning and teaching Muslims about the orders of Allah and a center of worship. It is also an administrative center as well as the social center for the communities that live in the locality of the Mosque. Mosque must take the responsibilities to administer the affairs of Muslims as well as the non-Muslims in the locality. In order to enable the Mosques to administer the affairs of all the people in the locality, every Mosque must have all the important particulars of every individual in the locality that includes age, marital status, the level of education achieved and the expertise owned by each individual in the locality. In this way, every Mosque will have the information of each individual in the locality and the Ministry of Mosque will have the information of each individual in Malaysia. In this way all the information of everyone who is the citizen of Malaysia and live in Malaysia are within the knowledge of the Malaysian government. With this data, the government can have better utilization of human resources and better plan on human and physical development of the country.

All the money given to all the Mosques in Malaysia during Friday prayer and other times will be deposited in a special bank known as Mosque Bank. The money collected can be used only for the development of all the Mosques in Malaysia such as building new Mosques, making extension of Mosques and paying salaries to the workers of the Mosque. The money can also be used to invest in economic and social activities that can generate income to the Mosques. In this way, all of our Mosques will become self-sufficient in terms of the management. Malaysian Government must treat all Mosques as an outlet to reach every single individual Muslims or non-Muslims in the country. Our government must use the Mosques as an outlet to help all individuals in the country. Everyone, including Muslims and non-Muslims must have a Mosque that takes care of their wellbeing. A person, Muslim or non-Muslim who does not have a job, school to attend to, or business to do or about to divorce or want to marry and who has many problems socially and economically can go to the Mosques and seek help.

In case the Mosque cannot solve his or her problems then the Mosque will have to refer the case to the appropriate government and non-government agencies that can solve their problems. Mosques will have links to all agencies that can help to solve each individual’s problem in the communities. Any person who is referred by an authorize person of the Mosque to any agencies is a genuine case. The agencies must take immediate actions on the case referred to them by the Mosque. Anyone who has any problem can go to his or her Mosque and the Mosque will in turn; link them to those agencies that can help them to solve their problems. In this way every single individual in every locality of every Mosque in Malaysia is taken care by the government. In this way, all the Mosques become the link for the government to reach the people and the people will use the Mosque to reach the government. This is indeed the government for the people and the people themselves are the government.

Among the important economic activities, that all Mosques in Malaysia should invest is health care and supermarket. All Mosques in all localities should have at least one clinic, one pharmacy and one supermarket. The clinic and the pharmacy preferably opened near the Mosques. The clinic should be able to treat disease of the mind, body and soul holistically. Later on, the clinic can expand to include dental and optometric clinic. In other words, the clinic can treat diseases of the body as well as behaviors of the people. The clinic should be able to cure disease as well as to treat symptoms of diseases. All individuals in the locality who has body diseases as well as bad behaviors can obtain treatment from the clinic with cost charged according to the income level of the individuals. Although the poor and the students are charged with minimum fees, but they still can obtain the medical treatment given to the rich people of the communities. The medical bill of the poor is subsidized by the Mosque. The Mosque can use the profit generated from the business to help the poor and the needy in the locality.

Other important economic activity that the Mosque can invest is supermarket. The supermarkets should be convenience grocery stores where people can buy via phones and internet, and goods are delivered to their houses. The supermarket should open twenty-four hours a day and goods are delivered to their houses in case their houses are in the locality of the Mosque. People can also buy the goods by themselves and the supermarkets deliver the goods to their houses. All the products in the supermarket are directly supplied by home industries, factories and farms owned by the government. As goods sold to the supermarket are directly come from home industries, the government factories and farms, the price of the goods will be very cheap; the quality is good and affordable to everyone.

Everyone in the locality of the Mosque will be encouraged to do home industries, and sell their products to the supermarket. In this way, everyone in the locality can become productive and prosperous. When all the people in Malaysia become productive, there will be more business activities and opportunities and the people will become more prosperous. Prosperity means the income of an average Malaysian increases, the price of goods decreases and their buying power increases. All the poor and the destitute certified by the Mosques can be supplied free with food by the supermarket. All the male workers of the supermarket are the workers of the Mosque. They give times to the Mosques and participate in the activities of the Mosque at least two hours and thirty minutes in a day. The profit from the supermarket business can be used to help the needy and the poor in the locality.

Every Mosque also handles the payment of zakat of every Muslims in the locality. The Mosque will collect the zakat and gives to Pusat Zakat, which in turn will distribute the zakat money through the Mosques in every locality. The Mosques’ officers are responsible to recognize those in the localities who are eligible to receive zakat. Similarly, the Mosque will handle the collection of zakat fitrah and gives the zakat money to Pusat Zakat, which in turn will distribute the zakat money through the Mosques in every locality. The Mosques becomes the center of almost all activities of all the people in the localities. When they are in need of help, they will go to the Mosques, irrespective whether they are Muslims or non-Muslims. When they want to marry and to divorce, they will also come to the Mosques to receive counseling or treatment. When they have arguments and misunderstanding between them, they also come to the Mosques. They also go to the Mosque when they have disobeyed the orders of Allah and want to receive advice and guidance. Mosques will be the center of all activities of all the people of the localities. The communities that center their activities to the Mosques will be blessed and helped by Allah. Mosque is the house of Allah and whoever frequently visits the Mosques will become the guest of Allah and all their requests will be entertained by Allah.

THE MOSQUE- OTHER ACTION

Mosque should become the center of the work of dakwah to non-Muslims and center of the work of reminding Muslims about Allah and the orders of Allah. Mosque is also the center of learning and teaching about the orders of Allah, the center of worship and Mosque should act as the social and administrative center of the community. Nowadays we have built many Mosques and we have spent a lot of money building and maintaining our Mosque. We have built many beautiful Mosques and I think some of our Mosques are among the most modern and most beautiful in the world. We are not to regret, having built such beautiful and modern Mosques. We should think positive and now we should make full use of all our Mosques, as it was used at the time of the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. We should not underutilize our Mosque that cost us millions of ringgit and to let it remains empty most of the time. We have used the public money to build the Mosque and the Mosque in return should bring benefit to the public.

Our Malaysian Government should employ some suitable people to do the work of dakwah to the non-Muslims and the work of reminding Muslims in the locality of every Mosque in our country. Our government must also employ some suitable people to do the work of teaching the Muslims who live in the locality of every Mosque about the orders of Allah and to employ some suitable people to do administrative and social work that involve all Muslims and non-Muslims who live in the locality of every Mosque in the country. We do not need to have Mosque committee as we have now, as it is not effective in making our Mosques utilized to its fullest capacity. Our Mosque committee members are selected by the people and they work voluntarily. We cannot have the correct and suitable persons to do the various activities of the Mosque from the committee members that are selected by the people and work voluntarily.

Nowadays the selection of Mosque committee members by the public has become more political than ever before and many selected to become the committee members are more interested with politic rather than to make the Mosques alive with activities like the Prophet’s Mosque at the time of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. Some of the committee members of the Mosque do not even go to the Mosque except when there are meetings and special functions. Having committee members that are associated with certain political parties has often caused division among Muslims in our country. Our government with the blessing of all the Sultans in all the states in Malaysia should stop the practice of using Mosques as political platform and one of the ways to do this is to stop having the Mosque committee members selected by the public.

Our government must employ suitable people with no political inclination to any political party to run the various activities of the Mosques as I have listed above. Mosques are center of uniting Muslims in the locality and this is only possible when the Muslims in the locality are involved with the work of increasing iman and not politics. When the iman of the people are good, their behaviors become good and when their behaviors become good they become united like brothers and sisters. Please read my article on the work of increasing iman and renewing iman. Our government should set up a separate Ministry and a full Minister to lead the Ministry. This Ministry is different from Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia, which is under the Prime Minister Department. It should become a separate and independent Ministry to handle all affairs related to the Mosques and making all the Mosques in Malaysia lively with the activities like the activities at the times of our Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. The Ministry is also responsible to handle all other associated activities of the Mosque, which Insha’Allah I will explain later in my next article.

In one Mosque the government needs to employ in the beginning only around six suitable persons. Four of them can do the work of imam, bilal, dakwah to non-Muslims and reminding Muslims about Allah and the orders of Allah and teaching the Muslims in the locality about the orders of Allah. Initially, they should teach the Muslims in the locality about the first and the second orders of Allah. The first order is doing dakwah to non-Muslims and reminding Muslims about Allah and the orders of Allah. The second order of Allah is to perform five times daily solat with congregation in the Mosque. Teaching these two important orders are priorities over all other orders of Allah. After one solat of congregation about 15 minutes, they should read a book, specially written and approved by the government, to cover various fields to those who attend the prayer. The content of the book must be in line with mission of the government. The other two persons can also do the work of dakwah to non-Muslims and reminding Muslims about Allah and the orders of Allah in the locality. Besides doing the work of dakwah and reminding Muslims about Allah and the orders of Allah, both of them can do the administrative work of the Mosque and social activities and problems related to Muslims as well as non-Muslims in the locality.

All these workers are compulsory to attend training prior to their commencing on their work. When all of our Mosques in every locality in our country are alive with activities like the activities as in the time of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w, then all our problems particularly related to behaviors and social activities in every locality in the country will be solved. Our government will be able to save a lot of money which otherwise has to be used to solve many social related problems. Our government investment on this project will bring great return to the people and the country. When our country becomes like Medinah in the times of our Prophet Muhammad s.a.w, Allah will shower blessing to the leaders of this country and the people generally. Malaysia will become a blessed country with peace and tranquility. Allah will shower abundance of food to Malaysians and there will be no poverty. Foods and the cost of living are cheap. Malaysians will live with prosperity, peace and tranquility. Malaysians will have a high standard of living, there will be no enmity, and everyone will live respecting and loving towards each other.

When our Prophet Muhammad s.a.w was preaching the Arabs to accept and to recite the Kalimah, I bear witness there is no God except Allah and Muhammad is the Prophet of Allah, the Arabs were poor, illiterate, ill manners and in the midst of so many problems. Our Prophet told them to accept and to recite the Kalimah and then to preach the Kalimah to others who has not accepted the Kalimah. Our Prophet said to them, if they listen and follow, Allah will solve all their problems and Allah will make them honored more than the non-Arabs were, at that time. The Arabs did accept and preached the Kalimah to others in the whole world and they became honored. Malays have already accepted and recited the Kalimah and the only thing the Malays have to do is to preach the Kalimah to others in Malaysia and the whole world who has not recited the Kalimah. When the Malays are willing to do this then Allah will make the Kalimah to enter the heart of the Malays. When Kalimah has entered the heart of the Malays, then the behaviors of the Malays will become exemplary and the Malays will become the most honored race in this world, in this century, as the Arabs once upon a time used to be.

THE MOSQUE-THE FIRST ACTION

What action do we have to do in order to make our Mosque in our locality becomes like the Prophet’s Mosque in the time of the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w? The Mosque in our locality will not become like the Mosque of the Prophet in the time of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w unless we decide to make the work of the Prophet s.a.w. as our work. We must decide to do the work of the Prophet s.a.w like what the Prophet did and we must decide to continue doing the work of Prophet at all circumstances and we will only stop doing the work of Prophet on the day we die. When we have decided to do the work of Prophet, we must decide to give times to the Mosque, the minimum two hours and thirty minutes in a day. One hour we should allocate to the work of dakwah and the work of reminding the Muslims, another hour allocated to performing solat with congregation in the Mosque and thirty minutes allocated to the amal of learning and teaching about the orders of Allah in the Mosque. Once we have decided to do the work of the Prophet like the Prophet did, then the help of Allah is already with us. When the time which we have decided to give to the Mosque has come, we must make ourselves present without fail in the Mosque.

When we are alone and nobody else in our locality is ready to do the work with us, we should remember that Allah is with us. We should remember that we are not alone and Allah is with us. When Allah is with us, we should be able to do the work of the Prophet alone and none can give harm to us except with the permission of Allah. Allah will not bring harm to me unless I can bear the harm and the harm will become as a means of my elevation in the eyes of Allah. In the beginning of Islam, even our Prophet used to do the work of visiting the people alone. Even though we are alone, we still have to do the Halkah of Iman and after doing it; we should make doa alone and ask Allah to give hidayah to our family and us and to Muslims to do the work of the Prophet and to the non-Muslims to become Muslims. How to do the Halkah of Iman has already described previously in my article with the topic The Mosque –Its activity. When you finished doing Halkah of Iman and doa you should proceed with doing the work of visiting the people from house to house and from lane to lane in our locality. We should visit every house, Muslims or non-Muslims and talk to every male adult members of the house. How should we talk to Muslims and non-Muslims have been described previously in my other articles. Please read articles on dakwah to non-Muslims and the work of reminding Muslims.

In the beginning as Prophet Muhammad s.a.w used to do, we may be doing the work alone and during these times we must remain steadfast and we must ask Allah to give us companions in doing the work of the Prophet in our locality. Once Allah grants us companion more than three people then we can do another amal of the Mosque, the amal of inviting the Muslims once in a week in our mosque and once in a week in neighboring mosque to listen to lectures that will fulfill the needs and the requirements of our Mosques. At the time of the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w people were called to the Mosque in order to fulfill the needs or the requirements of the Mosque by only the call…Assalatul Jaa-miah and all the Sahabah would gather at once in the Prophet’s Mosque. After Sahabah had gathered, the Prophet, s.a.w will give them motivational talk so that the requirements of the Mosque were fulfilled. Most of the requirements of the Mosque at the time of the Prophet s.a.w were to send group of Sahabah to other places either to do the work of dakwah to non-Muslims or to be engaged in war against the non-Muslims that refused to embrace Islam and to pay jizyah to the Muslims.

Since our iman is weak, we cannot call Muslims to the Mosque with only the call like what the Prophet used to do during his time. In order to call Muslims to come to the Mosque to attend lecture that will portray the needs or requirements of the Mosque, we have to send group of Muslims, minimum 3 people and the maximum 10 to the Muslims’ houses. The groups must go to every lane or road in the locality to visit only Muslims’ houses and to invite only male adults to attend the lecture. Between solat Asar and solat Maghrib, the work of inviting Muslims to attend the lecture can be done, minimum 45 minutes and after solat Maghrib, one person should give a lecture of about 30 minutes to the Muslims that have come to hear the lecture. After performing solat Asar, one person should give short lectures about 15 minutes and persuades the audience to participate in the work of inviting the Muslims to attend the lecture after solat Maghrib. Among those who are ready, we form groups that are ready to do the work of inviting Muslims to attend the lecture by going from one Muslim’s house to another Muslim’s houses. The group consists of at least three persons, with one is made leader, the second person is made as spokesperson and the third is made as the introducer. Instructions on responsibilities, procedures and ways of doing visiting are given prior to the group goes for visiting the Muslims in their houses. In this visit, we are not going to the non-Muslim houses, as the purpose of the visit is to invite Muslims to attend our lecture.

During the visits, we must observe the procedures and ways of visiting Muslims and cordially inviting the Muslims to attend the lectures. Details on the ways of doing the work of visiting Muslims and asking them to attend our lecture in the Mosque, with the grace of Allah I have written in a separate booklet and it will be published soon, Insha’Allah. One person should give the lecture after solat Maghrib. The aim of the lecture is to persuade the audience to fulfill the needs or the requirements of the Mosque. The first need of the Mosque is to bring all Muslims in the locality to the obedience of the command of Allah, especially the first and second command. At the end of the lecture the audience are persuaded to do the work of dakwah to non-Muslims, the work of reminding Muslims, performing five times solat with congregation, learning, and teaching by giving times daily to the Mosque about two hours and thirty minutes. The names of those who are ready to give times to the Mosque, written clearly in a book and they are later on, collected, and given instruction on how to spend times in the Mosque.

When there are needs, according to mesyuarah, the Mosque can send groups of Muslims to other neighboring Mosques in the cities for three days and other Mosques in other countries for longer durations of times such as forty days or four months, and those audiences who are ready to go are asked to give their names too. Those allowed to go to other countries for long duration of times, should be among those who have given times in their locality two hours and thirty minutes daily, healthy and have sufficient expenses to spend and to leave their families. There is no rule that every male Muslim must spend three days every month, forty days or four months every year. None of these rules is mentioned in the Quran and practiced by either the Prophet s.a.w or the Sahabah. The Prophet and Sahabah went in the path of Allah according to the needs of the Prophet’s Mosque. Similarly, the groups sent according to the need of our Mosque to countries for certain duration of times especially to those Muslim countries where more Muslims are leaving the orders of Allah. The work of the group is to bring the Muslims back to the obedience of the commands of Allah, particularly the first and the second command of Allah. To send groups of Muslims to Muslims’ countries where many Muslims disobeyed the orders of Allah are more preferred than to send to non-Muslim countries.

Every Mosque is responsible in bringing the whole humankind to the obedience of the orders of Allah. Every mosque must act similar as the Prophet’s Mosque at the time of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. Every Mosque is responsible over the whole humanity and no Mosque is under the control of another Mosque. There is no concept of “markas” that controls certain numbers of Mosques. Each Mosque is a “markas” and it is independent and work on its own. Each Mosque can decide on its own which areas and countries in the whole world, group of Muslims should be sent in order to make the orders of Allah alive there. Every individual Muslims is responsible over the whole humankind in order to make them obey the commandments of Allah and similarly every Mosque is responsible to make all other Mosques in the whole world, similar as the Prophet’s Mosque during the times of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w.

THE MOSQUE-ITS FUNCTION

A must read article by all Muslims in Malaysia

Do all Muslims know the function of Mosque? Why do we build our Mosques and why Mosques are so important to the lives of Muslims? Mosques are centers of all activities of a Muslims community. Every Muslim community must have a Mosque and all the activities of every individual Muslims in the locality centered in the Mosque. Mosque acts as the place upon which the minds, beliefs and actions of every individual Muslim in the locality be made correct. When the minds, beliefs and actions of every individual Muslim in the locality are correct then the environment is also correct and it would be like the environment at the time of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. When the environment of the locality is like the environment at the time of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w then the practice of the complete orders of Allah will become easy to everyone in the locality. Everyone, including children in the locality will find it easy to practice all the orders of Allah and non-Muslims who live in the locality will be easily affected by the work of calling them to recite the Kalimah. At that time, non-Muslims will enter Islam by groups.

The main function of the Mosque is to correct minds, beliefs and actions of all the individual Muslims in the locality and later on in the whole world. In order to achieve this, Mosques must become the center of dakwah to non-Muslims in the locality and the center of reminding Muslims in the locality about Allah and the orders of Allah. The Mosque must send many groups of two or three Muslims to visit the non-Muslims as well as Muslims in the locality. The groups of two or three Muslims must go to every lane or road in the locality and visit every house and in every house, they visit every male adult either Muslims or non-Muslims. In case the male adults are Muslims, we remind them about Allah and the orders of Allah and ask them to participate in the amals of the Mosques particularly the amal of dakwah and performing five obligatory prayers with congregations in the Mosque. We should ask every male adult to give times to the Mosque in order to participate in the amals of the mosques. The amount of times we should ask them is two hours and thirty minutes in a day. During those times, they should give times to amals of dakwah and reminding Muslims about forty-five minutes to one hour, about one hour and fifteen minutes performing solat with congregation in the Mosque and about thirty minutes learning and teaching the orders of Allah. In case the male adults in the houses are non-Muslims we should give them dakwah of  Kalimah and ask them to embrace Islam by reciting the Great Kalimah, I bear witness that there is no God except Allah and I bear witness Muhammad is the Prophet of Allah. I have explained on how to give dakwah to non-Muslims and reminding Muslims previously in my articles on Dakwah to non-Muslims and the work on reminding Muslims.

Each Mosque must act like the Mosque of the Prophet s.a.w during the time of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w that has the function to not only correct mind, belief and action of individual Muslims in the locality but also Muslims in the entire world. Each Mosque must take the responsibilities of correcting mind, belief and action of any individual Muslim in any part of the world. Muslims must act like one body. If any part of the body is in pain, the other part of the body must work together to alleviate the pain. In case, even one Muslim is about to become apostate, it is the responsibility of the Mosque to send groups of Muslims to that person and helps to rescue him back to Islam.

The Mosque must send group of Muslims to that part of the world where Muslims have left the work of dakwah to non-Muslims and the work of reminding Muslims, and bring them back to the orders of Allah. In case, in certain parts of the world there are Muslims who left the order of solat and paying of zakat, it is the responsibility of the Mosque to send group of Muslims to that part of the world and bring Muslims back to the orders of Allah.

It is incumbent duty of every Muslim to ensure that all Muslims in the whole world practice all orders of Allah. When any individual Muslim does not practice even a single order of Allah, all other Muslims are responsible to bring him or her back to practice that order of Allah. One Muslim must take responsibilities to ensure that all Muslims must obey all the orders of Allah and all Muslims on the other hand must take responsibilities to ensure that one individual Muslim must obey all the orders of Allah. During the time of Caliph Abu Bakar, in some parts of the country, there were Muslims who turned apostate and some Muslims refused to pay zakat. Hazrat Abu Bakar sent group of Sahabah to them to try to bring them back to Islam and to bring them back to pay zakat as they used to do at the time of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w.  Hazrat Abu Bakar may Allah be pleased with him used to say with approximate meaning… “Shall I live and the orders of Allah die”.

Nowadays many Muslims have disobeyed nearly all the orders of Allah and nearly all Muslims have disobeyed the first order of Allah. The first order of Allah is to give dakwah to non-Muslims so that they accept and recite the Great Kalimah, I bear witness there is no God except Allah and I bear witness that Muhammad is the Prophet of Allah and the work of reminding Muslims about Allah and the orders of Allah. Many Muslims still obey the second order of Allah and the second order of Allah is to perform five times daily solat. Men have to perform with congregation in the Mosques and women in the house. In order to establish Islam in the whole world the first action that Muslims must undertake is to have at least one Mosque that takes the responsibilities to establish the two important orders of Allah in the entire Mosques in the whole world. The first order is the work of dakwah to non-Muslims and work of reminding Muslims and the second order is men to perform solat with congregation in the Mosque and women to perform solat in their houses.

Have the Muslims community in the whole world had such a Mosque? Nowadays, Muslims in the whole world do not have, even one Mosque like the Prophet’s Mosque in the time of the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. Allah will choose any country to be the means upon which Islam is alive again in this world, in case they have such a Mosque. Would Malaysia like to be that blessed country as the city of Medinah used to be blessed as the means upon which Islam shines throughout the whole world? Would Malaysia like to be the means upon which her problems and the problems of all other countries of the world solved? Malaysia needs to have at least one Mosque to begin with, like the Prophet’s Mosque at the time of the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. Would Muslims in Malaysia work towards achieving this? We have problems because we have disobeyed the orders of Allah and to solve our problems in Malaysia and the whole world we have to come back to the obedience to the orders of Allah and ask others to do the same. We try to solve our problems by running away from obedience to the orders of Allah; our problems will not be solved but on the other hand, will be increased.

THE MOSQUE-ITS ACTIVITIES

Mosque is the center of activities of Muslims and all Muslims must have connection with the mosque. As a Muslim, we should try to follow the ways of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w and similarly our Mosque activities should be like the activities of the Mosque of the Prophet at the time of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. The heart of our communities is the Mosque and what the Mosque’s activities are will determine the condition of our communities. Any government that wants to establish Islam as a way of life among its citizens must concentrate in making the Mosques’ activities similar to the activities at the times of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w.

All Muslim leaders should follow what the Prophet s.a.w did and how he did it, when he reached Medinah. When the Prophet s.a.w reached Medinah, he immediately built the Mosque, he lived beside the Mosque, he started the amals of the Mosque and he asked all the Sahabah to do the amals of the Mosque like him. The Prophet Mosque became the center of activities and the Sahabah took turn to come to the Mosque and participated in all the amals of the Mosque. Because of participating in the amals of the Mosque the iman and the amals of the Sahabah became stronger and stronger day by day. Initially the Sahabah is like the candles but later on, they became like the stars and when the Sahabah moved around the world they moved with their lights and they became the source of guidance of other people.

The most important amal in the Mosque of the Prophet s.a.w is the amal of dakwah and the amal of reminding the Muslims about Allah and the orders of Allah. Dakwah is the amal of inviting the non-Muslims to accept and to recite the Great Kalimah, there is no God except Allah and Muhammad is the Prophet of Allah.

The second important amal in the Mosques of the Prophet is the amals of ibadah such as to perform solat with Jemaah, to perform non-obligatory solat, to read the Quran and to do zikir. The third most important amal in the Mosques of Prophet is the amal of learning and teaching about the orders of Allah.

The fourth important amal in the Mosque of the Prophet is the amal of entertaining guests that come to the Prophet s.a.w Mosque and that includes, providing the guest with food, place to sleep and to give them present when they return.

In comparison with our present day Mosques, we are not doing what the Prophet s.a.w and the Sahabah used to do in the Prophet’s Mosque. Only few of our Mosques have the amal of five times congregational prayers while most of our Mosques have only three or two solat with congregation while the rest of the times the Mosques are without any activities. Only recently, many Mosques have lectures conducted by some religious scholars between solat Maghrib and Isyak. It is actually a lecture but regarded as majlis of learning and teaching. Other than these amals, our Mosques usually remain empty from amals. Nearly all of our Mosques are devoid of the daily amal of dakwah and the amal of reminding Muslims about Allah and the orders of Allah.

Every Muslims are responsible to establish the amals of the Mosques. We do not have to wait for the imam or the ustaz to start the amals of the Mosques then only we will do the amals of the Mosques. Every Muslim is capable of doing all the amals of the Mosques. When we do the work of dakwah and the work of reminding the Muslims, Allah’s help is with us. When Allah’s help is with us, we can do the work of dakwah and all the amals of the Mosques. The most important amal of the Mosques to be established is the amal of dakwah and the amal of reminding the Muslims about Allah and the orders of Allah.

Our Mosques are not active with twenty-four hours amals in a day because we have not established the amal of dakwah to non-Muslims and the amals of reminding Muslims about Allah and the orders of Allah. Amal of dakwah and the amals of reminding the Muslims are very great amals. When these great amals established in our Mosques, all other amals of the Mosques are also established. In order to establish the amals of the Mosques, first, we have to decide to give times to the Mosques. Every Muslims should decide to give times to the Mosques, minimum two hours and thirty minutes every day. One hour, allocated to performing five times solat with congregation, forty-five minutes to one hour allocated to dakwah and reminding the Muslims and the balance thirty minutes to the amal of teaching and learning about the orders of Allah.

When we want to do the work of dakwah and the work of reminding the Muslims we must go to the Mosque. In the Mosque, before we go out to do the work of dakwah and reminding the Muslims, we must do the amals of reminding each other about the meaning of the Great Kalimah.

We form groups and each group consists of two or three persons and in case there is no other person to do it except you, you can do the work alone. Each one must remind the others about the meaning of the Kalimah. Each person will speak something like this, because it is an order of Allah and to please Allah I would like to remind my brothers and myself that there is no God except Allah. There is no one that can do harm or give benefit except Allah. There is no one that can give honor or disgrace except Allah. There is no one that can give food and satisfy my hunger except Allah. Oh Allah, put these great Kalimah into our heart. When everyone in the group has done the work of reminding each other about the meaning of the Kalimah, then one person from among the group will make prayer, asking Allah to give guidance to non-Muslim to enter Islam and the Muslims to do the work of the Prophet s.a.w.

After making prayer, the group may proceed to any lane or road in the locality and visit Muslims as well as non-Muslims’ houses. The group must visit every house and talk only to the male members of the house. They must not miss any house even empty one. In case the house is empty, you should make prayer in front of the house.

What you should speak when you meet Muslims and what you should speak when you meet non-Muslims are already explained in my last articles on dakwah on non-Muslims and the work of reminding Muslims. After you have completed about forty-five minutes, visiting times you may decide to go back to the Mosque. After you have reached the Mosque, all of you must sit in a group and again do the work of reminding each other about the meaning of the Kalimah and at the end of the session, one person from among you, must make prayer, asking Allah for forgiveness and acceptance.

In case we established the amal of dakwah to non-Muslims and the amals of reminding the Muslims about Allah and the orders of Allah in our Mosques, a time will come when many Muslims will give times to the Mosque at least two hours and thirty minutes every day and many non- Muslims convert to Muslims. When many Muslims in our locality decide to give times every day to the Mosque then our Mosque will be alive with activities twenty-four hours in a day like the Prophet’s Mosque during the time of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w.

When the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w reached Quba on his historic journey to Medina, he stopped for some days in Quba. During the few days he was in Quba the Prophet s.a.w built a Mosque and when he reached Medina, among the things that he did, he first built a Mosque which was later named as the Prophet’s Mosque. Prophet s.a.w bought the lands from two orphans and together with the Sahabah, the Prophet s.a.w built the Mosque. The Mosque was a simple Mosque with the pillars of the Mosque was made from the trunks of the date trees and the roofs were made from date leaves. Although the Mosque was simple but it was full of activities, twenty four hours daily. We have to make the activities in our Mosques as similar to the activities of the Prophet’s Mosque at the time of the Prophet s.a.w. The activities that were carried out in the Prophet’s Mosque have to be followed by Muslims until doomsday. The actions of the Prophet s.a.w have clearly indicated to us that the activities that are carried out in the Mosque are more important than the building of the Mosque. The building is like the body but the activities of the Mosque are like the soul and the mind of the body. Without the correct activities carried out in the Mosque, the Mosque will be just like a body without soul and mind. In other words the Mosque is like a dead body. What is important is the soul of the Mosque, which is the activities that are carried out in the Mosque, such as the activities carried out at the time of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w.

Are our Mosques similar to the Mosque of the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w in term of its activities or otherwise? Nowadays Muslims build very beautiful Mosques and some Mosques are built like a palace and its maintenance can reach up to hundreds of thousands of dollars in a month. Muslims as well as non-Muslims visit the Mosques to look at its splendour and grandeur. The Mosques have become a centre of attractions for tourists. Even the Muslims who visit the Mosque may not even remember to perform prayer in respect of the Mosque, because they are so attracted to the beauty of the Mosques. Nowadays Mosques are lacking the soul and mind and the Mosque are like the dead body. When anyone visits a person who is alive, he or she may gain benefit from his visit to that person, but in case the person is dead, the visit is only to pay respect to the dead person. Similarly the visits of Muslims nowadays to the Mosque are like visiting a dead person. At the time of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w the Mosque was full with activities. The Mosque was like a man with body, mind and soul. The Mosque was full of activities even during the early hours of the day. The sahabah took turn to come to the Mosque and participated in the activities of the Mosque. Each one of the sahabah regarded themselves as the worker of the Mosque and each one was willing to spare some times in the day and in the night in making the Mosque full of activities twenty four hours daily.

When the Mosques are full of activities, the Mosques are like a person having mind, body and soul. Anyone who comes to the mosques with a dead soul and mind will find their soul and mind to be rejuvenated. When a person with a dead soul and mind comes to the Mosques and participates with the activities of the Mosques, his soul and mind will become alive. His soul and mind will start to become fresh and shining. Now we have many Mosques but all of our Mosques are like a dead person. Anyone who goes to the Mosque with soul and mind being not rejuvenated, he or she will also come out of the Mosque having the same soul and mind as he or she has before entering the Mosque. We have not making use of the Mosques to harness human potentials. We have not making use of the Mosques to correct our beliefs and minds. We have not making use of the Mosques to produce the best Muslims. We only built beautiful Mosques that cost us millions of dollars and we didn’t utilize the Mosques to its utmost potential as a means to produce the best Muslims. The Prophet’s Mosque at the time of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. was a very simple Mosque and cost them little money to be built but the Mosque was full of activities twenty four hours daily and they produced out of that Mosque such personalities like Hazrat Abu Bakar, Hazrat Umar and many others that the world has never produced before and probably will never produce in the future.

We are Muslims and we have the Prophet s.a.w. as our example. When we want to build a community that is obedience to commandments of Allah, we have to start with the Mosques. We have to make our Mosques full with activities as similar to the Prophet’s Mosque at the time of the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. The Mosque of the Prophet s.a.w was full with activities twenty four hours daily, because the amal of dakwah was alive while our Mosques are not full with activities because the amal of dakwah like the way the Prophet s.a.w are not alive in our Mosques. We think by just having lectures in the Mosques we are already doing the work of dakwah. We organized daily lectures in the Mosques between Maghrib and Isyak and we expect the Muslims in the locality will come to hear the lectures. Only some of those who come to the Mosque for Maghrib prayer will listen to the lecture. We really do not know how to promote our religion. By only organizing daily lectures in the Mosques is not good enough to promote it. We do not do any marketing on Islam and we expect the non-Muslims to come to Islam. No matter how good the product is, without marketing the sales of the product will be down. Dakwah is the way on how to market Islam to the non-Muslims. We have to visit Muslims in our locality, and remind them about Allah and the orders of Allah and ask them to do the work of dakwah and to perform prayer with congregation in the Mosques. We have to visit the non-Muslims in our locality and invite them to embrace Islam. We have to ask all the Muslims in our locality to do marketing on Islam in the locality. When the number of Muslims doing the work of dakwah increases the number of Muslims that comes to the Mosques for prayer also increases. We can organize the Muslims in the locality to spend time in the Mosque turn by turn and in this way the Mosque will be full of activities twenty four hours daily.

When our Mosques are full with amal or activities twenty four hours daily, then our Mosques will become similar to the Mosques of the Prophet s.a.w at the time of the Prophet s.a.w. Our Mosques will have the radiance of light that will penetrate the heart of those who come to our Mosques. Muslims or non-Muslims who enter our Mosques will be affected by the radiance of light that comes from the various amal in the Mosques and Muslims will come out of the Mosques with increased iman and understanding of Islam and the non-Muslims will come out of the Mosques as Muslims. In this way we are making use of our Mosques correctly and we will have good and quality citizen.
